must be santa

We didn't have 'Santa' growing up. Of course we knew who / what Santa was, but he just wasn't responsible for the wrapped boxes under our tree. We knew damn well that Mum and Dad had bought our gifts; not some big bearded bloke sporting a Coca-Cola dressing gown. Plus our house was pretty modern...no chimneys.

On the other hand, GeordieLad was regularly visited by Santa. So when the 3G arrived we had disagreements about whether they would do the whole believing thing. The decision was taken out of my hands when a multitude of GeordieLand relatives asked what they wanted San-ta to bring them. My thing is that I feel the girls should understand that family and friends bring presents for them because they want to show how much they are loved and cared for. Not because it's someone's job one night a year. These presents are a privilege, not a right. Our compromise is that the more expensive individual presents are from Mummy and Daddy, whilst the joint present is left from Santa. It'll do for now, until they finally work out who's really doing all the buying.

In the meantime, I have accepted that I am beaten so in typical mama elsie stylee I have decided to go all out and bring the magic of Santa to TwickersTowers...whilst it still works.
